Our new boutique cruiser is designed to roam through the narrow and winding rivers and canals of the river system that cannot be accessed by the larger cruise boats. That way we can show you the hidden gems of the northern Mekong Delta.
The cruise ship has 12 superior cabins that are all designed as outside cabins, slightly larger than the ones on the Mekong Eyes Classic. In addition to the deluxe cabins the cruiser has 4 suites, which are located on the upper deck and equipped with a private balcony. The interior design is using a lot of local materials and design patterns and is hand-crafted by local craft masters.
Apart from classic destinations such as Can Tho, Cai Be and Chau Doc there are also spectacular and less frequented places located along the route: the idyllic colonial town Sa Dec (known from the novel L’Amant), the bird paradise Tram Chim National Park of Cao Lanh; ((close to Cao Lanh is the legendary secret command center of Xeo Quyt — a small Cu Chi in the middle of the Mekong Delta which can be explored with small boats and is reminiscent of the movie Apocalypse Now)). An insiders’ tip is Cu Lao Gieng, a Mekong island with a powerful old colonial monastery complex surrounded by orchards and chili fields. Our tour ends in Tan Chau, which is the place where our speedboats are stationed for the transfer to Phnom Penh and which is famous for its traditional silk production.
For the transfer between Chau Doc and Phnom Penh, we will use our own comfortable speedboats, which are currently under development. Thus it will be possible to book the tour from Saigon to Phnom Penh for one, two or three nights — depending on the boarding station — on the Mekong Eyes Explorer. The transfer to and from Saigon will take place by bus or car; the transfer between Tan Chau / Chau Doc and Phnom Penh will be with our own speedboats. Our new cruises will commute on a weekly basis between Can Tho / Cai Be and Phnom Penh: every Friday we will start in Cai Be and arrive on Sunday in Phnom Penh. Guests can start their tour in Can Tho (Thursday), Cai Be (Friday and Tuesday), Cao Lanh (Saturdays and Monday) and Chau Doc / Tan Chau (Sunday).
